Abinger Cookery School

Sometimes a bride or groom just wants a day of relaxation, great company and even greater food. Who needs nightclubs and sugary over expensive cocktails when you can sit down with your loved ones and tuck into a delicious meal that you actually made?! With Abinger Cookery School you’ll be in great hands as you pop on your apron and whisk, bake and sautee your troubles away!

What they do

In this beautifully refurbished pub in Dorking, set in the Surrey Hills, you and your party will be treated to an amazing experience under the guise of a cookery class! Lizzie has run the business since around 2 weeks before the first lockdown (there’s a baptism of fire if ever you’ve seen one!). What you will find today is an absolute reflection of Lizzie’s enthusiasm and commitment to every single person who crosses the Abinger threshold having an experience they will never forget!
So firstly, know that Lizzie is not a professional chef (though rumour has it she’s pretty handy at baking)…..she leaves the actual workshops to a highly skilled team of pros. So skilled are they that the Abinger is endorsed to run Weber grill courses! You would not believe what you can create on a barbecue. Like literally, ask Lizzie when you call and prepare to have your mind blown!
They run evening, half day and full day courses and the choice of skills you can learn and delicious goodies you can create is mind boggling. From skills courses like knife handling, butchery and baking, to masterclasses in Italian recipes, ‘dude food’ and British game, the options are almost endless! Alternatively you can create whole menus like Burger and Lobster, a Sushi workshop or the fantastically named Wok and Roll! Combine that with a beautiful garden area and Lizzie and her team’s commitment to tailoring every element of your experience to match everything you want, you can guarantee an awesome time.

Great for

A bride or groom who’s wanting an immersive and interactive experience for the whole group while learning some new skills along the way!

Additional Extras

You can decorate both the indoor and outdoor areas to your heart's desire and when you walk in you will don a beautiful apron that you can even buy as a memento of the day! Bring your own beer or bubbles to enjoy throughout the experience and you’ll soon be channeling your inner Gordon Ramsay (hopefully with less of the swearing) whilst having a great laugh with your nearest and dearest.

Price

A full day is 5 hours and £185 per person, an evening session is two and a half hours and £80 per person and a half day is three hours and £115 per person, you book with a 30% deposit and you pay the rest of the balance six weeks before the event. You’re also best to give owner Lizzie a call right before booking to discuss your budget and timescale.
