South West Survival

Wanting an adventure with someone trained in military service? Looking for a group activity that requires teamwork and endurance? Then you’re going to love South West Survival! Owner Steve Kelly is a full-time British soldier with over nineteen years of military experience,  In 2012 he unfortunately lost his eyesight in his right eye. Thinking he would be medically discharged from the forces he asked himself one question- what am I good at? The answer- survival! From there Survival South West was born. Fortunately for Steve he was not put on medical discharge but instead found a passion in helping people find their inner survivalist and now balances a full-time job in the army whilst running South West Survival.

What they do

South West Survival aims to tap into your survival instinct by giving you an authentic outdoor experience with activities such as building and lighting a fire, making your own shelter, laying traps for your food and even a bushtucker trial! Get your face paint on and tie up your boot laces as you and your mates collaborate to solve problems that you would encounter in the wild.

Great for

An adventurous bride or groom who doesn’t mind getting their hands and feet muddy! You’re going to be doing activities such as skinning rabbits and eating insects so an iron stomach is also recommended!

Additional Extras

Is a five-hour session not long enough for you? Wanting to see how you would fare overnight in the wilderness? No problem! Steve offers overnight sessions for you and your party- so make sure that the shelter you built is extra comfortable before you spend the night in it! If you’re feeling tired after all your hard work, then bring home a bag of Steve’s own Survivalist coffee! Or if caffeine isn’t your thing, you can buy some awesome branded clothing as a memento of the day. You can even pop on over to his sweet shop and buy a bag of goodies to bring home!

Price Point

A day event is £85 per person and overnight is £120-£130 per person, a deposit is required but the price of the deposit depends on what activities you decide to book, so it is best to ask Steve via his Instagram for any booking enquiries!

Offers

Let Steve know that you found his company through this Collctiv blog and you will be given a free bag of his Survivalists Coffee - amazing!

Good to know

Since Steve is a Military man, his schedule can be busy and unpredictable, so it’s important to message him way ahead of time with a potential date that you have in mind.

Crackshot

Sometimes the most out of the ordinary activities are the ones that are the most fun. With Crackshot’s gun centre you and your party will certainly have a time you will never forget! Owner Eric Irish has been involved in shooting sports for over forty years and, wanting to bring his passion for the sport to the public, has been teaching everyone from novices to experts how to shoot their targets and have a blast (pardon the pun!) since he opened in 2015.

What they do

Crackshot offers an expansive range of activities for you to do and after a safety briefing you will be on your way to hitting targets in no time! Crackshot has three ranges for you to practice shooting, with a variety of guns including semi-automatic pistols and air rifles. You will then be using their amazing state of the art electronic shooting simulation to go clay pigeon shooting and take part in your very own bear shootout!! Get competitive while you bet on who can hit the most targets or who can hit the bullseye the quickest and I’m sure you will be making memories that will last a lifetime.

Great for

A bride or groom who’s looking for an out of the box, yet adrenaline-filled activity.

Additional Extras

After a long day on the shooting range, there’s nothing better than popping on over to their gift shop to get some things like custom targets and camo jackets to commemorate the day!

Price Point

With their one hour package you will get a choice of either two or three ranges (depending on the size of your group) for £27 per person or you can opt for an hour and a half package with all three ranges for £34 per person. If you book in advance you can make a provisional booking with the pricing being confirmed two weeks before the event. Crackshot will take a deposit and then the balance is paid once confirmed numbers are known. For enquiries or bookings contact Eric via email or phonecall.

Offers

Eric and the team at Crackshot are very kindly offering 50% off for the Bride or Groom when you book - just let them know you are a Collctivite and have read this super engaging blog (the super engaging bit is just a suggestion from me….not that I’m biased or anything!!!!)

Good to know

If your party is between five or ten people, then you will get a £5 discount per person or if your party is between ten and fifteen people you will get both the £5 discount AND they will extend your package to a two hour one- what a bargain!!

Newnham Park

If your bride or groom is a lover of adrenaline and beautiful nature, then Newnham Park’s shooting range ,which is set in a beautiful wooded area nestled between Plymouth and the footpath of Dartmoor National Park, will be the perfect activity for you!

What they do

In these sessions you and your mates will be clay pigeon shooting in a beautiful serene environment, making memories and learning new skills along the way. You will start off your session with a safety talk and a briefing where you will be taught the art of clay pigeon shooting by their highly experienced teachers and after that, you’re good to go! You and your party will shoot up to thirty pigeons each, giving you plenty of time to impress everyone with your shooting skills or giving them a big laugh when you can barely hit one clay (but with teachers as skilled as Newnham’s, we doubt that will be the case!).

Great for

A bride or groom looking for a great activity whilst being surrounded by nature.

Additional Extras

If you’re wanting to take a memento from the day, you are more than welcome to bring home one of their many clay pigeons!

Price Point

It is £69 per person for 30 clay pigeons or £89 per person for 50 clays. A deposit is required beforehand but it depends on how many people will be showing up for the activity. For more enquiries you can contact owner David here.

Good to Know

You will need to book in advance as it is a bespoke service and David wants to form a relationship with you before the event so your day will fit all of your needs and wants. It’s important to fill in the enquiry form fully telling him everything that you want out of the day and how many people are expected to attend and he will do the rest!

Henbiz

Owner Lisa Truscott is a trained circus performer, who fell in love with the art when she was eighteen at a gap year in Camp America, so a few years ago she set up Henbiz and she’s been bringing her marvellously fun workshops to the world ever since

What they do

In these workshops you and your mates will be getting a completely unique dance workshop that will leave you feeling accomplished with hopefully a new skill under your belt! Join her High-Flying hen classes and have a blast with her aerial activities, fly up in the air in a hoop, silk or trapeze! Who needs to watch people perform at The Cirque du Soleil when you can be the performers yourself!! Or if that’s not your cup of tea then you and your party can join their Hoopla Hens workshops and have an absolute scream hula hooping with your friends and family. Learn hula hoop moves on and off the body and impress people with your fun tricks. Hey - you and your party can even perform the routine at the wedding!

If you want something more dance-focused you can partake in Bollywood Beauties and be taught a fully choreographed routine to the song Jai Ho from Slumdog Millionaire that you can show off at the wedding! If Bollywood isn’t your style- no worries! Just contact Lisa beforehand and she can do any kind of genre of dance you and your bride might want.

Lisa has also started teaching ‘’Laughter Yoga’’ before her sessions. This new and innovative concept will have you and your party voluntarily laughing together- which more times than not will end up having everyone in fits of real laughter - yoga laughter has been proven to melt the stress of your daily life away and improve mental health!

Good for

A Hen or Groom who is wanting an experience they won’t have had before, learn a new skill (or 5!) and to walk away with many a story to regale the wedding guests with.

Additional Extras

Want a gift to give to the lucky Hen/Stag? Lisa makes beautiful hula hoops which you can preorder - including a special customised one for the lucky Bride or Groom-to-be!

If your group is less than ten it is £200 for the whole class and if it is more than ten it is £270. To book, drop Lisa an email and she will sort out the arrangements for you! Booking is 50% in advance and the balance is paid two weeks before.

Good to Know

Lisa is based in Falmouth but she is happy to cover Cornwall and Devon and more than an hour away will incur an extra cost.

Somerset Adventures

Canoe Adventures

Got a bride or groom that loves a scenic view and the calming waters of a beautiful river? Or do they like something a little more fast paced and action packed? Well with Canoe Adventures you can have the best of both worlds with their amazingly fun aquatic activities!

What they do

With Canoe Adventures, the social experience and having a laugh with your mates is at the forefront of their priorities. Before getting your canoe and paddle at the ready, have a bite to eat and take some lush scenic pics for Instagram at The Maltsters Pub. Then climb aboard your 12-person canoe to enjoy the River Dart Estuary - an area of outstanding natural beauty. Canoe Adventures are one of the only companies that offer you the chance to be in the same canoe with all of your group, or at the very least alongside a second or third, or up to five boats if your group needs that many!

On a day trip you will be making two stops, one stop to play some fun and games with the bride or groom-to-be and a second ‘’Wild’’ stop, where you will build a fire, sit down and enjoy the breathtaking surroundings (hey, you could even toast some marshmallows as a post-rowing treat!).

If one day just doesn’t seem like enough time on the water for you, then you can book an overnight trip where you will set off at 10 o'clock, pitch your campsite and head off on the river for a row before you partake in some epic activities such as archery, bushcrafts, gun shooting and more! See how you would survive in the wild as you build your own accommodation for the night from the nature around you. You have two campsites to pick from, one with comfy hammocks swinging from trees or if you’re feeling extra brave, fare the night in their Basha tents!! Canoe Adventures’ highly experienced staff will facilitate the whole experience for you so there’s no need to worry as you’ll be in great hands! The next morning you will be back on the water with a new sense of adventure you didn’t arrive with.

Good for

A bride or groom looking for a memorable experience, fresh air and natural beauty - all shared with those closest to them!

Price Point

A day trip is £35 per person and an overnight stay is £120 per person. There is a £50 deposit per boat and the rest of the balance is to be paid two weeks prior to the event. You can contact Canoe Adventures here for any more enquiries.
