How can I collect deposits before booking the venue, so I'm not guessing at numbers?
Send the payment link out and ask everyone to pay their share upfront as a non-refundable deposit before you confirm anything with the venue.
Can I collect the final balance separately from the deposit?
Yes, organisers often run this as two rounds from the same pot: an initial share to secure the deposit, then a second request closer to the date for the remaining balance (food, drinks, final numbers). You don't need to close the pot or start again between the two; you can simply re-share the same link once you're ready to collect the rest.
Can I set a deadline for people to pay by?
Yes, you don't have to set one, but you can add a deadline in the pot's customise menu, and once that date hits, the pot closes automatically and stops taking further payments.
Can I suggest how much each person should pay?
Yes, when you set up or customise a pot, you can add a suggested amount, and it'll pre-fill that figure for anyone who opens the payment link. The contributor can still choose a different amount if they wish.

This is a great app! It's so easy to set up a money pool/collection and send out the link. It makes it really easy for everyone to put their money in, they just use their credit/debit card, no need for them to have the app. So much easier than trying to get everyone to do a bank transfer!
